As part of Building Safety Month, the Department of Building Inspection (DBI) is launching buildingeye, a citizen platform that aims to revolutionize how the public interacts with local government for building and planning applications and construction activity, to provide enhanced online interactive mapping  of its historical building permit and complaint records found in its online Permit and Complaint Tracking System.

With the click of a mouse, users can access over DBI’s million records that date back to the 1960s. Combined with San Francisco Planning’s data, the interactive mapping tool provides users the opportunity to:

• View all building permit types
• View project description
• View Complaints
• Check on current status of projects
• Receive email alerts 
• Filter project search by neighborhood, address, or zip code
