DBI is the regulatory building safety agency responsible for overseeing the effective and efficient enforcement of building, electrical, plumbing, disability access and housing codes for the City and County of San Francisco’s more than 200,000 commercial and residential buildings.
 
The Department of Building Inspection's office at 1660 Mission Street is partially closed to the public. We are providing curbside Over-the-Counter services. Visit here for more information. Our staff is answering calls and emails and providing permit and inspection services. We are available Monday to Friday from 8am to 5pm. 
 
Construction is allowed per the Order of the Health Officer No. C19-07c, provided owners or its agents adhere to Construction Safety Protocols as required in the Order. Visit here for more information.
