Community Action Plan for Seismic Safety (CAPSS)

AGENDA:

• Report on the current status of the CAPSS program by Tom Tobin of the CAPSS project team, including an update on the Impact Assessment Report and project schedule.

• Discussion of the current status of the Unreinforced Masonry Building Program to seismically upgrade brick buildings in San Francisco, including a review of the UMB performance goals and other program elements.

• Update on other CAPSS-related topics, including:

  1. ATC 71-1 project, sponsored by FEMA, "Development of Simplified Guidance for Seismic Rehabilitation of Soft-Story Wood-Frame Buildings
  2. Soft-Story upgrade programs being developed in the San Francisco
  3. Further discussion of the current scope of the CAPSS program, and additional topics that may be considered as part of CAPSS or other future work.

• Upcoming SEI/ATC Conference in San Francisco in December 2009.

MISSION STATEMENT

As a policy-making and supervisory body mandated by the City Charter, the seven-member citizen Building Inspection Commission will manage the Department of Building Inspection and the bodies subordinate to the Commission by overseeing the effective, efficient, fair and safe enforcement of the City and County’s Building, Housing, Plumbing, Electrical and Mechanical Codes, along with Disability Access Regulations.

ACCESSIBLE MEETING INFORMATION POLICY

The meeting will be held at the Department of Building Inspection, 1660 Mission Street, 2nd Floor. The closest accessible BART stations are the Civic Center Station at 8th (at the United Nations Plaza) and Market Street and 16th at Mission Street.
