Community Action Plan for Seismic Safety (CAPSS)

The agenda for this November 10 CAPSS meeting will include:

    • Project team update, including current status of Impact Assessment technical review and revised project schedule update.

    •  Overview of ATC 71-1 project: Development of Simplified Guidance for Seismic Rehabilitation of Soft-Story Wood-Frame Buildings presented by David Mar, S.E., Project Technical Director.

    • Overview of the DBI Building Occupancy Resumption Program (BORP) to allow rapid post-earthquake evaluation and reoccupancy of buildings in San Francisco (L. Kornfield)

    • Discussion of future CAPSS Advisory Committee schedule and meetings, including the following proposed topics
      • January: Task II report (Impacts) to be presented in draft form
      • February: Longer meeting to review Task 2 outcomes, including consideration of recommended acceptable building performance standards
      • March: Task III review with Bill Holmes (post-earthquake repair standards)  

    • Overview and invitation to attend the upcoming SEI/ATC Conference in San Francisco in December 2009: Improving the Seismic Performance of Existing Buildings . CAPSS Advisory Committee Members are invited to attend as guests of the conference organizers, ATC (Applied Technology Council) and ASCE - SEI (American Society of Civil Engineers - Structural Engineering Institute).
