Requesting for a Pre-application meeting
For review and comment of specific design issues from DBI prior to application for a permit or prior to the submittal of addenda to a site permit, please email your pre-application meeting request to dbi.preapprequests@sfgov.org. See more information here.

 

Requesting for an Extension on your Issued Permit

If you have a permit that has expired or is expiring, you can request for an extension of your permit (valid for one extension of an additional 365 days) by completing a Service Request form and mailing it together with a check to the Department of Building Inspection, 1660 Mission Street, 3rd floor, San Francisco, CA 94103. To obtain the correct fee amount or if you need more information, call 415 558 6570 between 7:30 AM and 3:00 PM. 

 

Requesting for an Extension on a Pending Permit

To extend a building permit application under review, please fill out the Request for Withdrawal, Extension, and Re-Activation of Building Permit Applications That Are Not Issued and submit the form to the Department of Building Inspection, Permit Services - Central Permit Bureau. Extension fees apply. Only one extension is allowed, allowing for an additional 360 days. Request for Records

Our staff within the Records Management Division has been busy responding to requests for records, 3R reports, and duplication of plans. If you have records or 3R requests, please visit https://sfdbi.org/RMD for more information on the next steps to take or email with your completed records request form to dbi.records3r@sfgov.org. Requests for 3R Reports can be submitted online. You can also submit your 3R Request by mail along with payment of $148.00. See more information here.

 

Completing the Payment and Permit Issuance Process

Our staff at Central Permit Bureau and Initial Permit Review can help you complete the permit issuance process for your application. 

When your permit is ready for payment, you will receive an invoice from DBI with instructions on how to pay the remaining fees. You can make the payment to CCSF-DBI - either by sending a check in the mail, ACH payment or sending through a wire transfer. We also accept payment by e-check, credit card, or debit card for filing and issuance fees. If you have questions about your permit, you can email dbicustomerservice@sfgov.org for more information.
