Administrative & General Design Subcommittee

AGENDA

1.0           Call to Order and Roll Call
Members: Arnold Lerner, AIA, acting-Chair; Zachary Nathan, AIA; Tony Sanchez-Corea, III; Frederic Freund; Dorie Lee.

2.0 Approval of Minutes of the subcommittee meeting of April 18, 2001.

3.0          Discussion and possible action regarding a proposed Interior Lead Prevention Ordinance. This ordinance would amend the San Francisco Building Code and Housing Code to prevent childhood lead poisoning by imposing requirements for property owners to survey for and control lead hazards in the interiors and exteriors of pre-1979 buildings, establishing certain requirements for activities that may disturb interior lead-based and presumed lead-based paint, and to expand the authority of the Director of Public Health to enforce these requirements. The possible action will be to develop a recommendation to the Building Inspection Commission for their further action.                     

4.0          Discussion and possible action regarding proposed legislation amending Chapter 31 of the San Francisco Building Code to ban the installation of wood-burning fireplaces and similar devices in new and remodeled residences. The possible action will be to formulate a recommendation to the Building Inspection Commission for their further action.

5.0 Subcommittee Member’s and Staff’s identification of new agenda items, as well as current agenda items to be continued to another subcommittee regular meeting or special meeting. Subcommittee discussion and possible action regarding administrative issues related to building codes.          

6.0          Public Comment: Public comment will be heard on items not on this agenda but within the jurisdiction of the Code Advisory Committee. Comment time is limited to 3 minutes per person or at the call of the Chair.

7.0          Adjournment.
