CODE ADVISORY COMMITTEE

AGENDA

 

1.0 Call to Order and Roll Call (2 minutes)

2.0 Approval of minutes of prior Code Advisory Committee (CAC) the Regular Meeting of October 18, 2000. (10 minutes)

3.0 Nomination of the Chair and Vice Chair for the Code Advisory Committee. The election will occur at the January 17, 2001 regular meeting. The term of office for each is one year and will commence with the CAC regular meeting of January 17, 2001. (10 minutes)

4.0 Report on adoption of the California Building Codes. (5 minutes)

5.0 Discussion and possible action regarding a proposed ordinance amending Administrative Code Chapter 41, Sections 41.9 and 41.11 to require that hotels provide each occupant with a receipt for each amount and time period paid, and providing for enforcement; and updating terminology in Sections 41.9 through 41.16 and 41.19 through 41.21 to reflect prior Charter changes establishing a Director and Department of Building Inspection in place of the former Superintendent and Bureau of Building Inspection (Sup. Newsom). The possible action will be to make a recommendation to the Building Inspection Commission for their further action. (10 minutes)

6.0 Discussion and possible action regarding a proposed Department of Building Inspection Administrative Bulletin on "Application of the State Historical Building Code." This proposed Bulletin would establish policies and procedures for the application of the State Historical Building Code (SHBC) and to define appeals procedures from administrative decisions. The possible action will be to suggest revisions to the draft bulletin, and, if possible, to make a recommendation to the Building Inspection Commission for their further action. (10 minutes)

7.0 Discussion and possible action regarding a proposal to change the 1998 San Francisco Mechanical Code (SFMC), Section 1027, Exception, as submitted by the DBI Plumbing Inspection Division. The proposal is to delete the exception which allows group R Occupancies of less than 6 units to be exempt from the requirements of certification of low pressure boilers, and thus to require all residential users of low pressure boilers to obtain annual certification and compliance with California Boiler Safety codes. The possible action will be to accept the proposed change, accept the proposed change with amendments, set aside for further study, or to reject the proposed change. (10 minutes)

8.0 Discussion and possible action regarding a proposal to change San Francisco Electrical Code Section 760-52(b) that requires power-limited fire alarm circuit conductors and cables to be installed in metallic raceways. The proposal is to allow the use of a flexible armored fire alarm cable as well. The possible action will be to accept the proposed change, accept the proposed change with amendments, set aside for further study, or to reject the proposed change. (10 minutes)

9.0 Discussion and possible action regarding disposition of Group R, Division 1 Occupancy hallway ventilation standards which were previously required under the 1995 San Francisco Building Code. The possible action will be to make a recommendation to the Building Inspection Commission for their further action.

The possible action will be for the full CAC to formulate a recommendation to be transmitted to the BIC for their further action.
    2. Discussion and possible action on recommendation of this subcommittee regarding Administrative Bulletin AB-028, Pre-Application Plan Review Proceedings. The possible action will be for the full CAC to formulate a recommendation to be transmitted to the BIC for their further action.

3.) Discussion and possible action on proposed Administrative Bulletin regarding Investigative Fee for Work Without Permit.
