AGENDA

1.0           Call to Order and Roll Call and confirmation of quorum.                    (2 minutes)                                                  (2 minutes)

2.0          Approval of minutes of prior Code Advisory Committee (CAC) the Regular Meetings of February 20, 2002, March 20, 2002, and April 17, 2002. (5 minutes)

3.0          Discussion and possible action regarding a proposed ordinance amending Section 2903 of the Building Code to require that single accommodation sanitary facilities in public accommodations bear signage indicating that they are usable by either sex. The possible action will be to formulate a recommendation to the Building Inspection Commission (BIC) for their further action.                    (20 minutes)

4.0          Discussion and possible action regarding proposed Senate Bill 1992 (Senator Perata) regarding seismic gas shutoff devices. This bill would require the Department of Housing and Community Development, in consultation with the State Architect and the State Fire Marshal to consider whether to propose for adoption and approval by the Building Standards Commission, in the code adoption cycle that begins after January 1, 2003, the requirement that seismic gas shutoff devices or excess flow gas shutoff devices be installed in all or a portion of dwelling units, motels, hotels, and lodginghouses. The possible action will be to make a recommendation to the Building Inspection Commission for their further action

5.0          Discussion and possible action regarding a proposed administrative bulletin AB-046 regarding Special Inspection and Structural Observation Procedures. The possible action will be to make a recommendation to the Building Inspection Commission for their further action.                                                  (20 minutes)

6.0          Report and possible action regarding proposed Administrative Bulletins:
                                                                                                              (20 minutes)

a.          AB-056 “Disabled Access Compliance Permits and Documentation.” This bulletin will establish a procedure under which permit applicants can achieve and document full or partial building accessibility. [Lee Phillips, Chair, Disability Access Subcommittee.]

b.          AB-057 “Local Equivalency for Approval of Roof Hatches in Lieu of Stairway Penthouses.” This bulletin provides standards and procedures for the application and case-by-case review of requests for a modification based on local equivalency to allow the use of roof hatches as alternates to code- complying rooftop stairway penthouses

c.          Administrative Bulletins that are scheduled to be included in the next edition of the San Francisco Building Code.          

d.          Status of Bulletins previously approved by CAC but not yet approved by Building Inspection Commission and Director of Building Inspection.          
                                                            
7.0          Status of on-going programs within Technical Services Division:          (10 minutes)

a.          Report and discussion of the proposed building codes changes and schedule for approval of the 2001 San Francisco code.
b.          Update on Community Action Plan for Seismic Safety (CAPSS).
