Review of all Green Building Subcommittee agenda items discussed and acted upon during the past year, and identification of new topics for discussion and action over the coming year. These topics may include items regarding sustainability, green construction, recycling, reuse, energy conservation, and possible building codes revisions, proposed ordinances, and activities or programs of other agencies. Such items identified will be prioritized and scheduled for discussion and possible action at future meetings of this Subcommittee In his introductory statement, Marshall Foster, Mayor’s Office of Greening, emphasized that the Mayor’s Office is very interested in Green activities and legislation. The Mayor’s Office of Greening is interested in creating an awards program for green issues. However, standards of performance need to be set up in order to be able to review nominated projects for recognition.
The attendees at this Subcommittee meeting went through a list of possible topics and issues for review in upcoming meetings (See attached matrix table, Attachment A). The list of code change topics from the previous year was also reviewed. Where possible, priorities of timing were also determined. Laurence Kornfield suggested that it would be most effective to select those items that were readily achievable and complete them. He stated that the Department of Building Inspection should not be the decision maker in those instances where a code addition or revision must be made. This decision should involve the broad code-user community. |
