Call to Order and Roll Call
Members: Jim Guthrie, S.E.; Chair; Ned Fennie, AIA.

Meeting was called to order at 9:00 a.m.  Quorum established with 2 members present.

2.0

Approval of the minutes of the Structural Subcommitteespecial meeting of April 24, 2007.

A motion to approve the minutes.  Seconded and approved.

3.0

Discussion and possible action on proposed amendments on structural provisions to the 2007 California Building Code

No discussion.

4.0

Continue discussion and possible action on the following draft Administrative Bulletin:  AB-083 on Guidelines for the Structural Review of New Tall Buildings

The following documents are discussed:

(A)      AB-083 Draft #3 dated  5/7/07

(B)       Recommended Administrative Bulletin on the Seismic Design & Review of Tall Buildings Using Non-Prescriptive Procedures by SEAONC dated 4/23/07

(C)       Ray Lui’s table listing DBI Actions on (B) and Commissioner Sattary’s and Structural Subcommittee Comments

 

Equivalency to code-prescriptive seismic design, requirement of higher standard to be beyond DBI authority, context of collapse prevention, the use of Formula 30-7 or MCE drifts for design of exterior curtain wall and cladding systems, mandatory sevice level evaluation and performance objectives are discussed.

Ray Lui will prepare AB-083 Draft #4 and submit to this Structural Subcommittee for review before this item being forwarded to CAC meeting on 5/16/07.

Continue discussion and possible action on the draft Administrative Bulletin: AB-085 on Guidelines for the Plan Check Review of Shoring and Underpinning.

No discussion.

Items 4.0 is continued in next  special meeting held prior to 5/16/07.
Items 3.0 is continued in next  special meeting on 5/22/07.

Future agenda may include Administrative Bulletins on Special Inspection and Geotechnical Reports.
