Regular Meeting of the

CODE ADVISORY COMMITTEE

DATE:    November 8, 2017

TIME:     9:30 a.m. to 11:00 a.m.         

LOCATION:   1650 Mission Street, Room 431 (Thru Room 400, Planning Dept. Fourth floor)          

This Committee meets regularly every second Wednesday of the month at 1650 Mission Street, Room 431, 4th Floor (City Planning Department).  If you wish to be placed on a mailing list for agendas, please call (415) 575-6832.

AGENDA

  1. Call to Order, Roll Call and confirmation of quorum.                                                                                                                                                 

 

  1. Discussion and possible action regarding a proposed ordinance (file #171139) amending the Building Code to require new commercial buildings of 25,000 square feet or more and new residential buildings of three units or more to provide a dedicated telecommunications space in a centrally located place in the building and to install fiber-ready cabling that is connected to an approved telecommunications network; affirming the Planning Department’s determination under the California Environmental Quality Act; making findings of local conditions under the California Health and Safety Code; and directing the Clerk of the Board of Supervisors to forward the legislation to the California Building Standards Commission as required by State law. The possible action would be to make a recommendation to the Building Inspection Commission for their further action. (30 minutes)

 

  1. Discussion and possible action regarding reference section corrections to San Francisco Existing Building Code (SFEBC) Section 401E from Chapter 16E to Chapter 4E and SFEBC Section 403.13 reference to Chapter 4B to Chapter 4D. The possible action would be to make a recommendation to the Building Inspection Commission for their further action. (5 minutes)                                                                              

 

  1. Discussion and possible action regarding a proposed SFEBC code change to add a Section 403.1.1.1 Stairways to place a reference to an existing San Francisco Building Code (SFBC) Section 1011.12.3. The possible action would be to make a recommendation to the Building Inspection Commission for their further action. (5 minutes)

 

  1. Discussion and possible action regarding modifications to Information Sheet G-21 Product Acceptance.  Potential modifications include addition of IAPMO reports as acceptance criteria in addition to ICC-ES reports and updating out-of-date URLs for references. (10 minutes)

 

  1. Discussion and possible action on guidelines regarding Bearing Wall Systems and Building Frame Systems for assignment of R factors. (10 minutes)

 

  1. Discussion and possible action on the triggers in 2016 SFEBC 403.12 Substantial Change. (10 minutes)

 

  1. Discussion and possible action on AB-106 regarding structural observation requirement for SFEBC Chapter 4D compliance. (10 minutes)               

 

  1. Public Comments on items not on this agenda but within the jurisdiction of the Code Advisory Committee.  Comment time is limited to 3 minutes or as determined by of the Chairperson
