MATTERS FOR CONSIDERATION
1. CALL TO ORDER AND ROLL CALL
2. APPROVAL OF MINUTES: Approval of the minutes for the meeting held Wednesday, December 8, 1999.
3. PUBLIC COMMENT: At this time, members of the public may address the Commission on items of interest to the public that are within the subject matter jurisdiction of the Commission except agenda items. With respect to agenda items, your opportunity to address the Commission will be afforded when the item is reached in the meeting with one exception. When the agenda item has already been reviewed in a public hearing at which members of the public were allowed to testify and the Commission has closed the public hearing, your opportunity to address the Commission must be exercised during the Public Comment portion of the calendar. Each member of the public may address the Commission for up to 3 minutes. If it is demonstrated that comments by the public will exceed 15 minutes, the President or Chairperson may continue Public Comment to another time during the meeting.
4. NEW APPEALS:
a. Appeal No. 99-13 (PA #9911107) Bristol Hotel Tenant Company 480 Sutter Street The appellant is appealing an Unreasonable Hardship Request (UHR) that has been administratively denied by the Department, for
a primary entrance ramp less that 60" in width serving a building with an occupant load over 300. The appellant is requesting a determination of equivalent facilitation for use of another entrance in conjunction with the existing 50-1/2" wide ramp, or a modified ramp of 59-3/8" at a cost of $40,000.
b. Appeal No. 99-20 (PA #9911561) Bristol Hotel Tenant Company 480 Sutter Street The appellant is appealing an Unreasonable Hardship Request (UHR) that has been administratively denied by the Department for the lack of the required 8’-2" vertical garage clearance. The appellant is requesting a determination of equivalent facilitation for
vertical clearance of 6’-1" to 6’-6 3/4" due to structural constraints.
c. Appeal No. 99-21 (PA #9911561) Bristol Hotel Tenant Company 480 Sutter Street The appellant is appealing an Unreasonable Hardship Request (UHR) that has been administratively denied by the Department for unloading zones adjacent to accessible parking stalls which are partially obstructed due to structural columns.
d. Appeal No. 99-22 (PA #9911561) Bristol Hotel Tenant Company 480 Sutter Street The appellant is appealing an Unreasonable Hardship Request (UHR) that has been administratively denied by the Department for the lack of required 6’-8" head room due to structural and mechanical elements along a pedestrian walkway within the garage.
5. COMMISSIONERS’ AND STAFF’S QUESTIONS AND COMMENTS:
Commissioners’ and Staff’s open discussion to identify new agenda items, as well as current agenda items to be continued to another regular commission meeting, site visit or special meeting. Commission discussion and possible action regarding administrative issues related to access appeals.
6. PUBLIC COMMENT: Comment time is limited to 3 minutes per person. .

KNOW YOUR RIGHTS UNDER THE SUNSHINE ORDINANCE
(Chapter 67 of the San Francisco Administrative Code)
The Government’s duty is to serve the public, reaching its decisions in full view of the public.
Commissions, boards, councils and other agencies of the City and County exist to conduct the people’s business. This ordinance assures that deliberations are conducted before the people and that City operations are open to the people’s review.

SUMMARY OF RULES OF EVIDENCE AND TESTIMONY

All persons testifying in any matter on the Commission Agenda will first be sworn in by the Official Reporter.
The Director’s staff representative shall make the first presentation of each appeal, followed by the appellant, each for up to seven minutes. Any interested persons not affiliated with the principals who wishes to speak on the item may then be heard once for up to three minutes. The Director’s representative and the appellant then each have three minutes for rebuttal. Additional time may only be granted at the discretion of the President or Chairperson.
Acceptance of additional documentary evidence at the hearing is at the discretion of the President or Chairperson. In general, all written information pertaining to the appeal provided by the appellant shall be submitted to the Secretary nineteen days in advance of the hearing date.
If an appeal is denied by the Commission, the appellant has the right to request a rehearing if he or she may demonstrate that they have substantially new information for the Commission’s consideration. A request for a rehearing must be made within ten days of the meeting date at which the appeal was denied. Such a request shall be made by letter and addressed to the Secretary of the Commission. The letter should state the reasons for the request and should present the new information. The filing fee for a rehearing request is $100.00.

ACCESSIBLE MEETING INFORMATION POLICY
In order to assist the City_s efforts to accommodate persons with severe allergies, environmental illness, multiple chemical sensitivity or related disabilities, attendees at public meetings are reminded that other attendees may be sensitive to various chemical based products. The meeting will be held at the City Hall, located at 1 Carlton B. Goodlett Place, 4th Floor, Room 408. The closest accessible BART station is the Civic Center Station at 8th (at the United Nations Plaza) and Market Street.

The Commission meeting room is wheelchair accessible. Accessible curb side parking spaces have been designated on the Van Ness Avenue and McAllister Street perimeters of City Hall for mobility impaired persons. There is accessible parking available within the Civic Center Underground Parking Garage at the corner of McAllister and Polk Streets, and within the Performing Arts Garage at Grove and Franklin Streets.
