Call to Order and Roll Call

Discussion and possible action regarding a proposed ordinance amending the Building Code to retroactively amend various sections and fee schedule tables to adjust fees with an effective date of January 1, 2009 due to Senate Bill (SB) 1473 - Green Building Standards (now signed into law with an effective date of January 1, 2009). In part, (1) this bill requires the Building Standards Commission (BSC) ....to approve, adopt, codify, publish and update green building standards for those occupancies.  (2) Requires every city and county to collect a fee of $4.00 per $100,000 in valuation from every applicant for a building permit for the purpose of funding the development of building standards with emphasis on the development of and educational efforts associated building standards, including green building standards. Cities and counties may retain up to 10% of the fees collected to cover the costs of collection and code enforcement education efforts etc.  (15 minutes)

Update from Laurence Kornfield, and discussion regarding the Mayor’s Commercial Energy Task Force.  (15 minutes)

Subcommittee Members’ and Staff’s identification of new agenda items, as well as current agenda items to be continued to another subcommittee regular meeting or special meeting.  Subcommittee discussion and possible action regarding administrative issues related to building codes.

Public Comment: Public comment will be heard on items not on this agenda but within the jurisdiction of the Code Advisory Committee.  Comment time is limited to 3 minutes per person or at the call of the Chair.

The meeting will be held at the Department of Building Inspection, located at 1660 Mission Street, Room 2nd Floor.  The closest accessible BART station is the Civic Center Station at 8th (at the United Nations Plaza) and Market Street and 16th at Mission Streets.
