1. CALL TO ORDER AND ROLL CALL

The regular meeting of the Access Appeals Commission was called to order at 1:11 p.m. by

President Stables.

2. APPROVAL OF MINUTES:

Commissioner Baltimore moved to approve the minutes for the meeting held Wednesday December 8, 1999. The motion passed without objection.

3. PUBLIC COMMENT:

None.

4. NEW APPEALS:

a. Appeal No. 99-13 (PA#9911107) 480 Sutter Street Bristol Hotel Tenant Company

The Commission heard Appeal No. 99-13; in which the appellant is appealing the Unreasonable Hardship Request that has been denied by the Department for a primary entrance ramp less than 60" in width serving a building with an occupant load over 300. Use of a complying 65" ramp in conjunction with another pair of entrance doors was proposed as equivalent facilitation.

On a motion by Vice-President Lim, that was amended by Commissioner Hogan, with a finding of physical constraints, the Commission voted 4:0, with one seat vacant due to resignation, to grant with conditions this appeal. The conditions are as follows:

    • Adequate directional signage shall be provided.

 

b. Appeal Nos. 99-20, 99-21, 99-22 (PA#9911561) 480 Sutter Street Bristol Hotel

The Commission combined Appeal Nos. 99-20, 99-21, 99-22; in which the appellants are appealing the Unreasonable Hardship Requests that have been denied by the Department for the lack of required 8’-2" vertical clearance within the accessible areas of the garage; the lack of full size unloading zones adjacent to the proposed parking spaces; and the lack of 6’-8" vertical head clearance along the pedestrian path from the proposed accessible parking spaces.

On a motion by Commissioner Hogan, the Commission voted 4:0, with one seat vacant due to resignation, to continue within 30 days this appeal to allow for a site visit. It was agreed the site visit will occur on February 16, 2000 at the Hotel.
