Review of Garage Door Structural Improvement project at project test site, 1775 Mission Street. The garage door reinforcement project was reviewed. A working model garage door had been assembled. Ideas for how to reinforce garage doors to improve seismic safety, allowance for inexpensive and easy upgrade installation ownership issues, connections, pivot device that slides a bolt as the door hits the grade, wood backing to the metal track, prevention of uplift under load and basic test procedure and equipment were discussed. |

Approval of the minutes of the Structural Subcommittee Special meeting of May 13, 2005.

Discussion and possible action on the draft Administrative Bulletin on Criteria and Evaluation Procedures for Structural and Nonstructural Performance-Based Designs.
The draft administrative bulletin was discussed. Ground motion uncertainties, etc. require alternate designs to provide high degree of confidence. Quality control may include setting up of inspection schedule, ease of monitoring and trackability. On page 9, clarification of sufficient redundancy is discussed. It is brought up that redundancy is not necessarily a good thing, e.g. steel moment frame. On page 12, serviceability (after the earthquake) is discussed.
