Call to Order and Roll Call
Members: Jim Guthrie, S.E.; Chair; Ned Fennie, AIA.; Stephen Harris, S.E.

Meeting was called to order at 9:00 a.m.  Quorum established with 3 members present.

2.0

Approval of the minutes of the Structural Subcommittee regular meeting of November 13, 2007.

A motion to approve the minutes.  Seconded and approved.

3.0

Discussion and possible action on the following draft Administrative

Bulletins:

          (A) AB-058: Seismic Instrumentation

 

 AB-058 will be revised with minor editing as follows:

 

          Title:  Delete “and Existing”

 

          Appendix B: “equipments have” will be changed to “equipment has”.

 

           A motion to move the revised AB-058 forward to the full CAC meeting. Seconded and approved.

 

           (B) AB-082: Requirements and Guidelines for Structural Peer ReviewProcedures.

AB on Non-prescriptive (Performance-based) designs is not required, since AB-005 on AlternateMaterials  and Methods can be used.

           City Attorney’s input,  Voluntary Structural Peer Review as supplement to plan  

           Review totally under the control of project sponsor ( selecting from a DBI list of 

           Experts) no need to be under sunshine ordinance, decision resting on Director

           are discussed.

         

           (C)  AB-083: Seismic Design and Review Procedures for New Tall Buildings

                 (Updated to 2007 SFBC).

 

SEAONC involvement, base shear deformation requirement, collapse prevention, serviceability check, special analysis, DBE vs. MCE, peer review are discussed.
